Questions Participants May Ask You

Participants may ask you questions during the recruiting or project process. Here are a few common ones, and the answers you can give them:

Q: Does the Over the Shoulder app "run in the background" or "spy" on me by collecting data about my activities?

A: No. The Over the Shoulder app uploads the answers you submit, the time you answered, and the geolocation of where you answered from. That's it. It does not access, monitor, record or upload your web surfing, app use, contacts or any other "passive" information gathering. You can see more details in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use statements.

Q: Will the Over the Shoulder app kill my battery?

A: No. The Over the Shoulder app uses about the same amount of battery as any common app on your smartphone. There should be no noticeable affect on your smartphone's battery life.

Q: I was invited to participate, but I never received my email.

A: Check here.

Q: I want to switch smartphones. Can I do that?

A: Yes. You can switch the device you're using in the middle of a project if you need to, but you will need your OTS profile reset before you can log in on your new device.
