To send a push notification to you participants, follow the instructions below.
Once you've selected the participants you want to have recieve the push notification:
- Select "Push notification"
- Enter the push notification message.
- Youre limited to 107 characters, so you'll need to stick to the headlines.
- The participants you've selected will appear in this field so you can check the list of recipients.
- Hit "send."
A note on push notifications
Push notifications are a great way to get the attention of participants when you need to. Here are a few limitations push notifications have so that you are aware:
- Your push notifications will only go through if the participant they are sent to has enabled the Over the Shoulder app to send them push notifications. We ask all participants to enable push notifications at the beginning of the study, but it's possible for participants to turn them off either intentionally or unintentionally.
- On some Android phones, push notifications are less obtrusive than others, so while push notifications are typically noticed quickly that's not always the case.
- Obviously, because push notifications work through the Over the Shoulder app, they won't work for participants who have not yet successfully downloaded the Over the Shoulder app and logged in.
If it's critical that your message get through to all participants ASAP, we would recommend sending both a push notification and an email!
